What Is It?
Cocoa butter is the natural, ivory-coloured fat extracted from roasted cocoa beans (Theobroma cacao) through a hydraulic pressing process. After fermenting and roasting cocoa beans, the beans are crushed into cocoa mass (chocolate liquor), which is then pressed to separate the fat (cocoa butter) from the dry solid (cocoa powder). Indonesia is one of the world’s top three cocoa producers, primarily in Sulawesi, Sumatra, and Java. Making it a key source of competitively priced cocoa butter. Cocoa butter has an exceptionally stable fat profile dominated by stearic, oleic, and palmitic fatty acids, giving it a unique solid-at-room-temperature, melts-on-skin character. It has a natural, subtle chocolate aroma (though deodorised versions are also widely available) and an extremely long shelf life, typically 2–5 years. Making it ideal for both food and cosmetic manufacturing.
